Abstract

Based on the fieldwork carried out among the riverside residents of Ponto Chique, northern Minas Gerais,  the article aims to reflect on how uncertainties constitute a way of being riverside and help us to think about this moment in that we live in a state of suspension by the Coronavirus. The dynamics of the waters impose a way of being in the world surrounded by ambiguities and uncertainties and the presence of the virus becomes another invisible element that integrates the riverside social network. Opposing an idea of nature control, Olímpio and his companions respect the nature of each being and teach us to interact and relate to the different species that inhabit the territories.
