The central question of the research is the process of colonization in the agricultural frontier of Amazonia, especially the case of Rondônia. The quantitative method allowed to analyze population data as well as economic data, making it possible to verify the demographic and economic evolution of the state of Rondônia. However, the demographic and economic outbreak has grown the economy without changing the socioterritorial complexities. So filling the "demographic void" did not provide regional integration in its entirety, much less the overcoming of capitalist logic in the region that has boosted and boost regional socioeconomic development yet without regard to the environment. Thus, the regional integration promoted by the opening of highways and the process of settlement as a result of a state geopolitics, made the State play a crucial role in the occupation of the Amazonian territory. However, the relative dynamism of agribusiness and agriculture is guaranteeing regional development, not only for the control of the territory, but also for the logic of capital.
