The discussion around memory’s mechanisms has been happening throughout thousands of years and has survived all types of social configurations. The Aristotelian theory that stablishes that the memory is structured by the dynamic between external senses and internal senses echoes till the present days. The investigation of the relationship linking contemporary peoples and cultures with memory gives us an understanding of the power of the Greek philosopher. This paper aims to analyze how this exchange of senses works in the post-colonial context that surrounds Conceição Lima's poetry – a poet from São Tome and Príncipe – while intending to project in the poetry the concepts of testimony and survival, that are the foundations of the poetry in A dolorosa raiz do micondó (2012).Downloads
