The present article approaches the novel Dão-Lalalão, by João Guimarães Rosa, undertaking a stylistic analysis of the narrative and articulating with the psychoanalytic theory of Freud, mainly with the repression concept. Starting from Guimarães Rosa’s own indications present in other works, its proposed the metaphor of the chime of a bell as correlation with the internal and external movements of the protagonist.
