Abstract

This article works with the tragedies Hecuba and The Trojan Women by Euripides, relating them to the historical context in which they were created. It investigates possible relations between them and episodes of the Peloponnesian War, especially the relation between The Trojan Women, presented at the Dionysia of 415 BC, and the conquest and destruction of Melos Island in the winter of 416-415 BC.
