Abstract

The culmination of discussions about the authorial
importance in literary work occurred in the 1960s, when
the thoughts of Roland Barthes and Michel Foucault
promoted the reducing of author’s appreciation and
elevate the importance of text and reader, in essays
as The author’s death and What is author?. About this,
the aim of this paper is to contrast the ideas of those
thinkers on the problem of author with the brazilian
novels Confi ssões de Ralfo, by Sergio Sant’Anna, and A
rainha dos cárceres da Grécia by Osman Lins, texts in
which the opposition about the death of the author is
perceived.
