Abstract

USA, Minneapolis, in March 2016, in the midst of turbulent manifestations that spread throughout Brazil pointing out to contradictions in the country's political system, we met Professor Sophia Beal in her office in the University of Minnesota. A wall with Brazilian maps clippings, posters of the 2014 World Cup, pictures of Brazilian artists’ works such as Lygia Clrak’s Diálogo: óculos, and an event on Camargo Guarnieri introduced us into a conversation in which the “other’s” view, a foreign one, revealead other shades in “ourselves”.
