Abstract

It is relevant to discuss points that can help in the success of hospital care directed to the person with suicidal intents. The risk of suicide increases with the number of attempts. Thus, the reception given to this person during hospital care is crucial, because, if done safely, with promptness and quality, it is possible to determine acceptance and adherence to the treatment. These actions must be directed to the comprehensive care provided to the triad (patient/family/team of professionals). There are crucial factors for achieving quality of care which are tied to conditions to optimize adherence to treatment and the creation of a multidisciplinary team competent to use a combination of biological, psychological and social interventions through continuous education.
