Abstract

Back to the classical debate between theory and practice and understanding that scientific knowledge is not apart from social reality, and the institution that it is insert as well, the present paper shows the possibilities of actualization from militant research in Latin America today. To achieve that, it discusses the relationship between inequalities and knowledge production in Latin America in a historical perspective; posteriorly, the field of militant research in this region is investigated, discussing the possibilities of its actualization and making an initial conceptualization; thus, some theoretical and methodological references from classical political and ideological matrices in Latin America are rescued, examining some of their contributions to knowledge production and the relation between theory and practice. Finally, insert in the initial effort and, inevitably partial made in the paper, to actualize and discuss the militant research today, some challenges are listed, leaving the conclusion open, with the expectation that its deepening in posterior text and researches allows keep opening theoretical and practices spaces to develop socially engaged researches.
