Abstract

This article analyses the representation of women in the magazine Tpm through journalistic photography and discusses the extent to which it helps to unravel the meanings of women’s freedom in the Manifesto Tpm. The corpus of analysis is composed by editions of May, June, July and August 2012. From the analysis, we recovered four matrices of female representation in the magazine: motherhood, work, fashion and body. They indicate that, although the Manifesto Tpm displays counter-hegemonic images in relation to women, the “eternal female roles” as a mother and a wife are still present in the texts and images.
