Abstract

The present paper intends to offer a report on the historical development of the phonographic industry under the perspective of its distribution supports. It considers the premise that the matter of the support is essential to understanding both the many characteristics such industry acquired during its history — as economic concentration, linkage to music editors and the relationship between hardware and software — and its current crisis.
