Abstract

This article proposes to reflect on how the metaphors in the discourse of Veja magazine are capable of producing sense drifts. Here, the focus is on the discursive options for the publishing a report aired on June 4, 2008, which is a political scandal involving the congressman and unionism Paulo Pereira da Silva. Having the upper theoretical discourse analysis of French inclination, we understand that the referred publication, by resource of “metaphor” language, recovers, and at the same time, stirs a discursive memory resulting in the remodeling of the reported event. In the news arena, there is a real clash in meaning between the political and union hemispheres.
