Abstract

This article aims to reflect on the private property legal discourse confronting
it with the current view that aggregates "new" outlines to this discourse and with the
processes experienced by different social groups. The speech of the property suffers
transformations in Amazon, driven by two trends: interventions and measures
undertaken by Federal and State Governments to promote the development of the region
and the emergence of social movements, which are self defined by criteria of ethnic
identity, and claim the maintenance and guarantee of rights, against adverse situations.
In this context, two questions emerge for reflection: what is the current contents of
private property and if it is able to meet the social demands that are placed.
