Based on article by Marcus Carvalho and Bruno Dornelas Câmara about the Praieira revolution, this text focuses on three central issues: the political and social relationships in Pernambuco along the first half of the nineteenth century; the ideology of the political parties; and the ideological and social diversity of the agents mobilized in the revolution. It suggests, finally, that we need to understand the Praieira in an Atlantic perspective and amidst the emergency of nationalism in imperial Brazil.Downloads
