Aikido and capoeira as sources of inspiration for the dramaturgy of the actor

This article aims to present aikido and capoeira – respectively, a Japanese and a Brazilian martial art – as sources of inspiration for the creation of procedures for actors’ preparation, stimulating creation and expanding their repertoire, in order to create a theatrical performance. As support for this research, Armando Sérgio da Silva and his concept of screen/shield; Rudolf Laban, specifically concerning quality of movement; and Martin Buber, philosopher whose studies focused in the relationship between human beings and the things which surround them were employed.
