Questionamentos e reflexões no exercício cronístico de Clarice Lispector

Abstract

This essay argues the chronicle as possessing a sort of aesthetic-stylistic autonomy, which allows it to incorporate diverse linguistic resources. Among them is the metalanguage, an instrument that makes possible to the chronicler to interrogate himself and to meditate on its craft and its object of work, the chronicle. Our work consists in reading some of the chronicles of Clarice Lispector in which she exercises the metalanguage as a way to express fidgets, questionings and doubts about her job as a chronicler and about her chronicles themselves. These chronicles had been published in Jornal do Brasil, between 1967 and 1973. The majority of them was congregated, posthumously, in the book A decoberta do mundo (The discovery of the world).
