A magazine, called Senhor (“Mr.”), designed by men, for men, which has, in its first number, an editorial written for its “women” readers. There you read: This magazine is made for men who are attuned with the times and culture they live in. The year is 1959 and it is a melting pot for cultural renovation. The texts are mostly signed by men, with interesting exceptions such as thecuriously titled “The smallest woman of the world”, a short story by Clarice Lispector. What subjectivities are organized and what social spaces are there for women to occupy in such paradoxical format?
