Abstract

There are several Moacyr Scliar’s tales in which he stablishes a parodic dialogue with the biblical tradition. In this paper, we will focus this ironic and humoristic intertextual discourse executed by Scliar in the tale “Diário de um comedor de lentilhas”. In this narrative, the author evokes Esau and Jacob, focusing mainly the character Esau, as well as the anguishes and displeasures of this profane twin, who would have recorded his misfortunes, caused by a plate of lentils, in a confused diary found centuries later by scholars of apocryphal texts.
