When the task is to transpose into a target language a culture that is still considered exotic and distant, the translator needs to make some decisions that might seem simple at first, but that are not really that simple. With this in mind, this article aims to raise as discuss some relevant points in the process of translating the tale “A Lonely Woman” by Syrian Zakariyya Tāmir.
