This article aims to discuss how social networks such as Instagram, generally understood as a factor of procrastination, can be used as a platform for research and scientific and literary dissemination in the context of social distancing recommended during the COVID-19 pandemic. The use of social networks as a study tool provided a diversified contact with research methods and academic writing, as well as profiles of writers of the books that make up the corpus of my doctoral research. For this, I highlight three Instagram profiles: the profile of the anthropologist and professor at the University of Brasilia Débora Diniz (@debora_d_diniz), the profile of the writer and researcher Tatiana Nascimento (@tatiananascivento) and the profile of the also writer and researcher Natalia Borges Polesso (@nataliaborgespolesso). Weekly access to Débora Diniz's classes provided a more effective use of writing and research methods. In addition, the discussions about the process of writing and reception of the authors' works, narrated by themselves, helped the reflection on the corpus of the thesis. Thus, it is concluded that social networks, designed for other purposes, can prove to be beneficial instruments for research and academic writing.
