This paper investigates the effect of the Bolsa Família Program (PBF) on the nutritional status of children and adolescents beneficiaries. We used data from the Consumer Expenditure Survey (POF-2008/2009) and the method Propensity Score Matching. The nutritional classification was based on recent recommendations of the World Health Organization. The sample includes children and adolescents under 19 years old and we studied heterogeneous effects of the program in rural and urban areas. The results indicated that the PBF improved the nutritional status of those in the treatment group. The conditionalities on health and education may partially explain these results.Downloads
