This study followed the line of research initiated by Hamermesh and Biddle (1994) and has tried to verify the influence of physical appearance upon wages. The principal conclusion of this article is that indications were found proving that physical appearance (measured as a separate set of variables and an index of beauty) does indeed affect the wages of individuais. Thus, individuais with bad physical characteristics suffer wage penalties.
