Abstract

Departing from an analysis of positive symptoms of paranoid psychosis, this paper proposes a dialogue between cognitive semiotics and psychoanalysis. It is intended to show that iconicity can constitute an epistemological system that serves as a ground for delusional semiosis. Here, the adhesion to the imaginary, an attribute of Lacanian psychosis, becomes comparable to the predominance of an iconic scheme that modulates interaction between psychotic subject and the other. Finally, we present a preliminary model of delusional semiosis that provides cognitive intelligibility for the empathic process in which the positive symptoms of psychosis is unfold.
