Abstract

At first, this paper searches to distinguish between some more evident features of melancholia and the core of its construction as a symptom. Many authors think that its manifestations can be more varied and extensive than a first approach could show. Thought of that way, melancholia would be placed between soma and psyche, in the vertex of philogenesis that repeats ontogenesis. This narrow passage where the melancholic situates himself/ herself changes its clinic and makes it more difficult, for it aids in the transference some aspects that can be complex to handle.
