Abstract

Action of an investigation aimed at a critical mapping of Latin American musical films that have left important marks in the History of Cinema of Latin America, this article is dedicated to talk briefly about the coming of rock'n'roll to the Portuguese- ans Spanish-speaking cinema in the Americas and to reflect on two moments in which rock and other genres sheltered under the scope of so called "youth music" mastered soundtracks of Brazilian musical films.

    MA in Musicology, PhD in Communication and Contemporary Culture, professor in the Communication College and the Post-graduation Program in Communication and Contemporary Culture of the Federal University of Bahia.

  • Sandra Straccialano Coelho, Fedral University of Bahia

    PhD in Contemporary Communication and Culture from the Federal University of Bahia. Member of Film Analysis Laboratory and a research associate at the Centre for the Study of migration and intercultural relations at the Open University of Lisbon (CEMRI / UAB), where performed postdoctoral research on autobiographical documentary filmmaking and migrations. Bachelor of Arts from the State University of Campinas and Master in Multimedia universidade. Has experience in the field of Film and Literature with an emphasis on documentary cinema, autobiographical narratives, the interface between cinema and migration, authorship and filmic analysis.
