The isonomy of species: a biological-evolutionist perspective for biocentrism

The present work discusses theories of evolution, focusing on the relationship between men and other animals in the light of contemporary practical ethical philosophy. It seeks to clarify whether anthropocentrism is grounded on the knowledge of Evolutionary Biology (first hypothesis), or if the rationality of Evolutionary Biology more fits biocentrism (second hypothesis). It aims to critically analyze the anthropocentric ideas of directional progress and natural human superiority from the available literature on ethical philosophy, general anthropology, genetics, evolutionary biology, natural history, ecology and zoology. This research defends the second hypothesis, the rational technical-scientific position on biocentrism and animal rights based on the evolutionary biology knowledge.
