This review deals with the work “The Festival of the Goat”, by Mario Varga Llosa, and presents the political dimensions of the Peruvian author's literature. The complex diversity of narrative cores in the work, characteristic of Llosa's writing, contributes to the understanding of Rafael Leônidas Trujillo's government in the Dominican Republic, the main theme of the book that reverberates as a common aspect of totalitarian regimes.
