This article describes how, having emerged in the last thirty years, research on History of Health in France has been marked by four great research directions: history of health professionals, history of diseases, history of hospitals, history of mentalities. It presents the state-of-the-art in each one of these directions during those decades. Finally, it points to the difficult process of being recognized as a separate specialty due to the broadness of its theme: the body.References
