Abstract

This article aims to analyze the connection between hate and power in the novel Die Klavierspielerin (The Piano Teacher), written by Elfriede Jelinek. After an introduction, discussing the question of power as understood for the purposes of this article, the text reflects about (1) the maternal practices of power, (2) the reproduction of socialization models and (3) the body and the student Klemmer as two sources of hate and power.
