O Bildungsroman proletário de Jorge Amado

Abstract

Published in 1935, Jubiabá narrates the growth and the formation of the class consciousness from the worker who is descendant of slaves, in the context of the emergence of the urban proletariat in Brazil. The novel dialogs with the tradition of the European “Bildungsroman” to build one of the first black heroes in our literature. The article brings the plot, the procedures adopted and the combination between models which results in a huge empathy with the readers.
