Abstract

This essay aims to reflect about the trajectory of the group Engenho, from São Paulo, which starts in 1979. In 1993, the group leaves the so-called “Bixiga circuit” and starts wandering in the city’s periphery with a mobile theatre. With a career of twelve
works, the group takes class struggle as its subject matter and
epic-Brechtian procedures as its aesthetic path.
