Journey of gathered people: an outline of the trajectory of the theatre group Folias D’Arte

Abstract

The present article aims to present the trajectory of the theatre group Folias D’Arte from three perspectives which complement each other: the problematization of a social phenomenon known as the “taking up of group theatre” in the second half of the 1990s; the biographical trajectory of the group combined to the thematic motivation of some of its works; its participation in the movement known as Art Against Barbarism. It is expected that this exposition will make clear the quality of Folias D’Arte and its historical importance in the evolution of the theatre of São Paulo in the last fifteen years.
