Abstract

We seek to understand the origin, strengths and weaknesses of Islamic extremism and to propose ways for its attenuation, relying on the civilizational parameters of the Muslim world, within its internal history and its complex relationship with western civilization.

Author Biography

  • Bouzid Izerrougene, Universidade Federal da Bahia

    Natural da Argélia, possui graduação em Economia - Universite de Paris XIII (1984), mestrado em Economia - Universite de Paris XIII (1987), doutorado em Economia - Universite de Paris XIII (1992) e pós-doutorado pela Universidade Paris-Dauphine. Atualmente é professor titular da Universidade Federal da Bahia. Tem experiência na área de Economia, com ênfase em Teoria do Comércio Internacional, Economia Monetária e Economia da Cultura e do Conhecimento. Publicou artigos científicos em periódicos especializados, livros e capítulos de livros. Realizou comunicações científicas em eventos nacionais e internacionais. É membro do Conselho Editorial das Revistas Análise & Dados, Revista de Economia do Nordeste e Nexos Econômicos. É membro de comissões científicas dos Encontro da Anpec e da Economia Baiana
