Resumen

The challenge of the BRICS countries is an overview of an international project. First, the history and rationale of the project is shortly reviewed. Secondly, main points of the research plan submitted to the Academy of Finland in 2011 are presented with selected references of literature. Thirdly, the implementation and results are summarized with links to respective pages of the project website and with main publications.

  • Kaarle Nordenstreng, Tampere University. Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Sciences

    Doutor pela Universidade de Helsinki (1969), é Professor Emérito de Jornalismo e Comunicação de Massa pela Universidade de Tampere (Finlândia). Sua pesquisa tem sido focada em teoria da comunicação, comunicação internacional e políticas midiáticas. Escreveu e editou mais de 60 livros, incluindo Normative Theories of the Media: Journalism in Democratic So­cieties (com CHRISTIANS et al., 2009) e A History of the International Movement of Journalists: Professionalism Versus Poli­tics (com BJÖRK et al., 2016). Foi Vice-Presidente da IAMCR (Associação Internacional de Estudos de Mídias e Comunicação (1972-88) e Presidente da Organização Internacional dos Jornalistas (IOJ, 1976-90).
