Tunrverein Santa Cruz (Santa Cruz Society of Gymnastic) was founded in 1893, in the actual Santa Cruz do Sul city, Rio Grande do Sul state. This study investigate how the Santa Cruz Society of Gymnastic was figured as a space of sport practices and ethnic identity representations, between the 1880s and the 1910s. A documental analyses of printed sources revealed that, in the current period, this sportive association was a singular space of dynamic configurations, promoting the cult of the body as a mean of identification to a German way of being, as well as the sociability and social distinction of an ethnically defined part of Santa Cruz citizens.Downloads
