Stressfull situations in professional basketball players The present study identified and examined stressful situations experienced by a professional basketball team (N=11). The stressful situations reported are related with organizational aspects, competition and practice issues, demands or costs of basketball and carer development issues. The interviews consisted of open-ended questions adaptated from other studies with the same investigation purposes. After the interviews data were analysed and classified in the predefined categories. The identified stressors were similar to the results of other studies that analyzed individual sports but there are also sport specific stressors. In addition, the stressful situations identified were originated from all aspects of competitive experience. The most reported stressful situations were travel and finances (organizational issues), personal situations and general aspects of the game (competition specific issues), team participation (practice issues) and relational issues (significant-other relationships).Downloads
