Abstract

This article aims to identify the production of knowledge of elements and analyzes about the practice of physical activity in Physical Education classes associated with cardiorespiratory fitness. A narrative literature review from 01/2017 to 08/2018 was developed and the SciELO, PubMed and DECS databases were used: adolescents, cardiorespiratory fitness, Physical Education. The selection criteria were complete original articles with themes about adolescents of both sexes between 10-18 years old, about cardiorespiratory fitness, Physical Education and physical activity. The analysis resulted in seven studies with different methods of assessing cardiorespiratory fitness, on fitness and body awareness gymnastics, physical condition and obesity, PE classes and out-of-school physical activity. Based on analyzes of the theoretical production of the selected studies, school Physical Education proved to be fundamental in encouraging the practice of regular physical activity. It is considered that factors such as body composition, sociodemographic differences and the practice of regular physical activity associated with school Physical Education may be determining factors in the cardiorespiratory fitness of adolescents.
