Abstract

"Tombamento", the main institute for the protection and preservation of the historical and cultural patrimony, has not been able to avoid the deterioration and loss of goods of extreme importance for the national memory. Several factors contribute to this inefficiency. In the search for alternatives that contribute to an effective conservation of assets of historical and cultural value, the need for a more effective participation of civil society stands out. Incentives need to be created so that private investments are allocated to equity. The Rouanet Law could have this purpose, but only a small portion of its resources is earmarked for this purpose. Recently it was approved the Law that allows the endowments in Brazil and can be an interesting way to be traced.
