This book is a memorial. In the history of Brazilian medicine such memories have been little valued, more interesting to forget them. We understand that by bringing them to the debate in undergraduate courses and specializations focused on the training of health professionals, the interests for a professional ethical training stand out. For, although it refers specifically to a historical period (entreguerras), when using the sociology of the symbolic field of Pierre Bourdieu, applied to the field of health, we contemplate the inheritance of the slavery period, the eugenic and racist ideals that influence why not say, until today, when we celebrate the Bicentenary of our Independence. This is a living moment of our history that could not fail to be told, especially today, in which there is a leading role aimed at strengthening an ethical awareness for anti-racist ideals.
