Abstract

This article discusses the creation of an institutional apparatus of political and social repression during the first Vargas era (1930 -1945), observing the integration of the various departments created to carry out a policy of strict containment of socialist ideas. The main sources used are the documents of the Political Police, the heart of the system, articulated in a narrative that seeks to provide an overview of this repressive strategy and to observe the effects of power over society.
