In this small communication, some important concepts about the nature of the idea of canon are discussed, in particular about the idea of belonging and legitimation of a musical canon of great works and great composers. Also the new concept developed by Pascal Gielen on creativity at the service of profit (profit-creativity) and the ideas of Lipovetsky and Serroy on the new artist capitalism are presented briefly. In the conclusion the contrasts between the two main concepts described here are evident: the canon and the creativity.
