Focus and Scope

Mission

Founded in 1990, Revista Música is a biannual publication of the Graduate Program in Music of the School of Communications and Arts at the University of São Paulo (ECA/USP). The Journal predominantly publishes original articles resulting from scientific research, including other significant contributions to the field (translations, interviews, reviews, scores).

Editorial Scope

Contributions should be from the field of Music research, encompassing its various interfaces. Reviews should be of books published within the last two years. Translations should preferably be of classic texts in the field. Interviews with musicians and personalities related to music will be considered only if related to an academic research project.

Contributions can be written in Portuguese, English, French or Spanish.

Article submissions are ongoing throughout the year. Calls for papers will be made biannually with set deadlines. Eventually, only articles related to specific topics will be accepted. If you have any doubts, check the information regarding the Call for Papers for the next issue. Articles submitted after the deadline will be automatically processed for future issues of Revista Música.

Peer Review Process

Peer review process involves the initial evaluation of submitted works by the Editorial Board, which examines their suitability for the journal's editorial policy. The texts selected in this first stage will be evaluated in the double-blind system by two ad hoc reviewers from institutions different from that of the author(s). The article will be considered approved if recommended by two reviewers. In case of conflict between the evaluators, the article will be sent to a third reviewer.

The Editorial Board will inform the author of the evaluation results. Any suggested changes in form or content made by the reviewers will be forwarded to the author, who must resend the final version of the work containing the suggested changes. Once accepted for publication, no additions, deletions, or modifications to the texts will be allowed. Accepted articles will be published in subsequent issues at the discretion of the Editorial Board.
