Abstract

Almost all that has been produced in the study of Brazilian musicology deals with movements or musical events which were seen or regarded as the most relevant when they came into being. The viewpoint of the reviewers regarding those musical events guided a series of subsequent studies that resulted in the valuing some movements and forgetting others, which were regarded as less important or little musical. So, this canonization of some events or musical periods has led many other events into oblivion
