Abstract

The objective of this article is to provide an overview of the place of the environment in the history of Brazil and of Brazil’s place in the global governance of climate change, an area in which the country has been a relevant player. The theoretical framework of reference is the approach of the climate commitment that analyzes the trajectory of emissions, domestic and external climate policies of the country. The concepts of approach are applied to five historical periods.
