Two theories are defended. The first, that there are two traditions for research on artificial intelligence. One of them goes back to the millennial tradition of astronomical observations with data collection and processing. The other is modern science. The second theory is that the first and most important contribution to the field of artificial intelligence is Hobbes’ proposal to design the State as an autonomous machine – take advantage of the benefits of precision machines – for the industrialization of society and that this State model is the main factor of the Industrial Revolution.
