Abstract

This memoir-like text looks back on the First Vacation Course at USP, whose theme was the fi ftieth anniversary of the Modern Art Week, and which featured the participation of those who experienced and helped build the artistic and intellectual environment of that movement. Along with personal accounts,
lecturers focused under myriad perspectives on the signifi cance of the event being remembered. The material on the USP First Vacation Course is available for consultation in the archives of the Institute for Brazilian Studies (IEB), the institution organizing the event.
