The Holy See and the Vatican City State: distinctiveness and complementarity

This paper delineates how the pope and the Holy See – synonymous entities and as such expressing the one and the same reality – function within the international community. This explanation is elicited especially from their diplomatic action within the Community of Countries at the United Nations (UN). The action of the pope and the Holy See through the diplomatic activity in the countries within community serves as a backdrop for this elucidation.
