Injuries in gland of the ninctating membrane of the dog

Abstract

Four cases of inflammation of the gland of the nictitating membrane, one in a "bulldog", one in a "pommeranian" and two in "Pekingese", are reported in this paper. The diagnosis of inflammatory hipertrophy based upon clinical facts, the surgical intervention followed by good results are summarized here. The histologic examination reveals a suppurative inflammation in two cases and a necrotic one in two others, associated with adenomatous  hiperplasy in one case and papilomatous in another one.
