Abstract

This paper is about a parallel between the projects created by VIlanova Artigas and Carlos Cascaldi for the Taques Bittencourt’s family, the differences between the first study and the definitive project for the family’s second house, built in 1959 and 1960. The contrast doesn’t intend to show why Artigas and Cascaldi changed their work drastically, but understand which design strategies defined this change. The main argument is that between one project and another there exists, with precision, the direction taken by the architect in the 1960’s; therefore, delimiting its importance in the formation of one of Brazil’s modern architectural movements.
