O Teatro de Maiakóvski está associado às buscas estéticas mais avançadas da época (tanto na Rússia quanto no Ocidente), relacionadas com a pesquisa e com experimentos inovadores em poesia, pintura e teatro. As “loucuras futuristas” de sua dramaturgia, incorporadas com a ajuda da linguagem teatral e a direção de V. E. Meyerhold, demonstrou um nível de experimentação até então inimaginável no cenário soviético.
